Double-Blind Peer Review Procedure

The Journal of Cybersecurity and Information Systems applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the scientific quality, objectivity, and originality of each article submitted for publication. The following outlines the steps involved in the review process:

1. Manuscript Submission

Authors must submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online system (Open Journal Systems/OJS). Submissions must conform to the journal’s scope and follow the author guidelines.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

The editorial team performs an initial screening to evaluate:

  • Alignment with the journal’s focus and scope
  • Compliance with formatting and submission guidelines
  • Plagiarism check using dedicated software
  • Completeness of manuscript components

Manuscripts that do not meet basic criteria may be desk-rejected at this stage.

3. Assignment to Reviewers

Manuscripts passing the initial screening are assigned to two independent reviewers with relevant expertise. Both author and reviewer identities are kept anonymous (double-blind) to maintain objectivity.

4. Peer Review Evaluation

Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:

  • Novelty and originality of the research
  • Methodological rigor
  • Accuracy and strength of data analysis
  • Relevance and adequacy of literature references
  • Clarity of conclusions and their contribution to the field
  • Quality of academic writing

Reviewers provide one of the following recommendations:

  • Accept without revisions
  • Accept with minor revisions
  • Accept with major revisions
  • Reject

5. Editorial Decision

Based on the reviewer feedback, the Editor will:

  • Communicate the decision to the author
  • Provide detailed reviewer comments and suggested revisions
  • Determine whether a re-review is necessary after revision

6. Author Revision

Authors are given a maximum of 2 weeks (for minor revisions) or 4 weeks (for major revisions) to resubmit the revised manuscript. A revision response letter must accompany the submission, outlining the changes made.

7. Re-Review (If Required)

In the case of major revisions, the revised manuscript may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation. For minor revisions, the editor may proceed to the final decision without re-review.

8. Final Decision

The editor makes the final decision to accept or reject the manuscript based on the overall review outcome and the adequacy of revisions.

9. Production and Publication

Accepted manuscripts proceed to the production phase, which includes copyediting, layout formatting, and proofreading prior to publication in the scheduled issue.

10. Ethics and Appeals

Authors and reviewers are expected to adhere to the journal’s ethical publication standards. Appeals regarding review decisions must be submitted in writing to the editorial board.

Note:
All processes are managed through the OJS system.
The typical peer review process takes 4 to 8 weeks.
